home heating oil tank fuel lines

i've seen some oil tanks have one line and others have two....on my furnace 
gnarly cakes
it has lines for 1&2....what is the difference between 1 &2 lines. is it

If your oil tank is in the basement, or above the unit, a  
Chickabiddy
single line is sufficient, if the tank is lower

must be changed to a 2 stage pump by inserting an allen screw in a port in

the pump, then run and extra line.One line being a supply,the other return
